
Family Resource Program: a program that provides community families with a variety of opportunities and resources. A regular weekly parent and tot drop-in, a lending library, regular workshops, field trips and events are easily accessed by community parents. FRP’s are community-based family support programs reflecting local needs.
Program Goals are:
Prevention & the Promotion of Wellness – Focus on building family strengths rather than dealing with deficits and problems.
Ecological Approach to Providing Service – just as children re seen as developing within the context of the family, so families are seen developing within the context of the community
Social Networking – recognizing the need of community networking to serve functions once served by traditional extended families support systems.
Interdependence – recognizing that all families need help and support at some time and are able to give help and support at other times.
A View Of Parenthood – recognition of this important stage of adulthood which is shaped by current and prior relationships, life experiences and knowledge about child development.
Importance of Play – recognition that play is essential to child development.
Program Components:
All community families are welcome. Attendance is voluntary.
